Gamification and retention

Right now I am focused on gamification: bringing mobile games experience into iGaming, where these mechanics drive real growth.

What I own

  • Engagement mechanics: missions, loyalty programs, reward loops, tournaments, prize drops.
  • LiveOps: event calendar, seasons, event design and its economy.
  • Player lifecycle: segmentation, triggers, win-back scenarios.
  • Monetization design next to retention, so that one does not eat the other.

The past year in practice

  • Games from external studios adapted into gamification tools for the company platforms.
  • New engagement mechanics raised registration to deposit conversion.
  • Funnel improvements lifted conversion rates by 30% across the company projects.

Where the base comes from

Free-to-play is an unforgiving school of retention: there, retention is the whole business. Missions, loyalty programs, tournaments and prize mechanics that iGaming is buying right now all stand on that base.

For fifteen years I built these loops and answered for the money they brought in. That is why I judge a mechanic by two questions: does the player come back tomorrow, and does it pay back.

Retention is designed together with monetization. Split them across two teams and one will keep repairing what the other breaks.
